Prepaid Materials Fee: $30, non-refundable. Preregistration required.

Workshop #1: 10 AM - Noon and Workshop #2: 1 PM -3 PM.

In addition to our SculptureWalk exhibition, Evergreen Arboretum is hosting two stone carving workshops on Saturday, August 19th. These workshops are open to everyone from 9 to 99 and will teach participants the art of carving animal shapes from soapstone. Members of the NWSSA will provide hands-on guidance, demonstrating stone filing techniques and helping each participant create their own unique sculpture. The workshops will take place outdoors in the upper parking lot of Evergreen Arboretum Classroom 105. Participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and wear clothes that can get dirty. The tools used in the workshop are simple and safe, and all necessary supplies will be provided.

This event is sponsored by the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association as part of the Sculpture Walk event at Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens and Schack Art Center’s Fresh Paint weekend.
