We are celebrating our 60th anniversary in 2023 with a birdhouse auction to raise funds for the renovation of the Backyard Garden, to be held on December 2nd in Legion Hall. We are looking for entries that are creative, dramatic, fun, colorful—or any combination thereof to be auctioned on .
Birdhouses may be designed to house a specific type of bird or be purely decorative. They may be suitable for indoor display only, or weather resistant. But to be eligible for the Best in Show award of $250, the birdhouse must be suitable for outdoor display in the Backyard Garden. All entries, except Best in Show will be auctioned to benefit the Backyard Garden project. Artists will be invited to attend a reception and the live auction on December 2. Makers may opt to receive 25% of auction price. Those not purchased during the auction will be returned to their maker.
ALL ENTRIES TO BE DELIVERED ON NOVEMBER 18TH BETWEEN 9:30 AM AND NOON.
Awards may be given in several categories, including:
Best in show (Purchase Award)
Best use of recycled materials
Best interpretation of an architectural style (e.g., Victorian, Bungalow, Mid-Century Modern, Gothic)
Best interpretation of an artistic style (e.g. Pop Art, Impressionism, Fauvism)
Best Multi-family house
Judges’ favorites
Submission Details
All entries must be signed and submitted with a contact form that includes name, address, phone, email, a title for the birdhouse, whether you wish to donate the piece or receive 25% of the sale price, and a photo of the birdhouse.
Deliver your entry to Evergreen Arboretum Classroom, 145 Alverson Blvd, Everett on November 18, 2023, between 9 a.m. and noon. No more than two entries per person.
Best in Show birdhouse becomes the property of EA&G and be displayed in the Backyard Garden
All entries will be on display and for auction on December 2 in Legion Hall
Artists will be invited to attend a reception and the live auction on December 2

About Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens:
EA&G is a 501(c)(3) organization that maintains and improves Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens, a 3.3- acre Arboretum located at the south end of Legion Park in Everett. The Arboretum is a beautiful setting for displaying art, and, with over 3,500 visitors each month, and an existing collection of 19 original sculptures by NW artists, it provides excellent exposure for The Best of Show artist selected for inclusion in the Backyard Garden.
