Two Day Sculpture Exhibition Aug 20-21, 10 AM - 5 PM
While Fresh Paint takes place downtown, Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens will come alive with a two-day outdoor sculpture exhibition. All sculptures are for sale and created by member artists of Northwest Stone Sculptors Association (NWSSA). Walk the gardens from 10 AM to 5 PM, meet the sculptors and discover diverse works displayed on plinths throughout.
Artist demos will be held both days: one at the Arboretum and a second demo downtown near the Schack Art Center. The Arboretum will close to the public at 5 PM for a private evening event.
Two workshops, both on August 20th, will teach youth, 8 years and older, how to carve animal shapes from soapstone. Members of the Northwest Stone Sculptors Association (NWSSA) will show each participant how to file stone and create a unique sculpture.
Workshop #1 is 10 AM - 11:30 AM and Workshop #2 is scheduled for 1 PM - 2:30 PM. Both workshops will be held outside in the upper parking lot of Evergreen Arboretum Classroom 105, so dress for the weather. Wear a mask and clothes that can get dirty. Tools are simple and safe, and all supplies are included.
We thank our Sculpture Walk sponsors for their support: The Northwest Stone Sculptors Association, Newland Construction, Sunnyside Nursery and Lamoureux Real Estate.
