Free Soapstone Carving Workshops with NW Stone Sculptors

Free, but preregistration required. BOTH SESSIONS SOLD OUT! Workshop #1: 10 AM - 11:30 AM and Workshop #2: 1 PM - 2:30 PM.

Evergreen Arboretum is hosting two free soapstone carving workshops on Saturday, August 17th. These workshops are open to everyone from 9 and up (parental supervision for 12 and under). Participants the learn the art of carving animal shapes from soapstone. Members of NW Stone Sculptors Assoc. will provide hands-on guidance, demonstrating stone filing techniques and helping each participant create their own unique sculpture. The workshops will take place outdoors at Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens Kiosk. Please wear clothes that can get dirty. Tools are simple and safe, and all supplies will be provided.

This event is offered in collaboration with Northwest Stone Sculptors Association as part of the Sculpture Walk event at Evergreen Arboretum and Gardens and Schack Art Center’s Fresh Paint weekend.
