This is the fourth year of our two-day outdoor sculpture exhibition and sale offered in conjunction with Northwest Stone Sculptors Association (NWSSA). This event promises to once again be a feast for the senses, showcasing an array of sculptures created by talented member artists of the NWSSA. The exhibition will be open to the public from 10 AM to 5 PM on Aug 17 and 18, allowing ample time to explore the gardens, interact with the sculptors, and admire the diverse range of works displayed on plinths throughout the venue.
Please note that the Arboretum will close to the public at 5 PM on Saturday to accommodate a private, member-only evening event.
In addition to the exhibition and artist demos, Evergreen Arboretum will host two stone carving workshops on Saturday, August 17th. These workshops are open to ages 9 and up (parental supervision for those under 12) and will teach participants the art of carving animal shapes from soapstone. Workshop #1: 10 AM - 11:30 AM and Workshop #2: 1 PM -2:30 PM. Members of the NWSSA will provide hands-on guidance, demonstrating stone filing techniques and helping each participant create their own unique sculpture. The workshops will take place outdoors in the kiosk inside Evergreen Arboretum. Participants are advised to dress appropriately for the weather and wear clothes that can get dirty. The tools used in the workshop are simple and safe, and all necessary supplies will be provided.
Pre-registration is required. To register, please visit: https://www.evergreenarboretum.com/store/carving-soapstone-animals-workshop-1-2dwzp
